💛💛💛💛 - 4*

This book had me glued to it from the start. I read it all in one day. It has a morbid opening and the pace of the story isn't too slow that you give up reading, but isn't too fast that you learn things before you should, either. I thought that this was a well-written novel with a unique storyline. It has compelling situations and some great twists.
12-year-old Eddie Adams and his friends are like any other group of twelve-year-olds, carefree and fun summer days messing about as kids do. This all changes the day the fair visits the village of Anderbury. A Waltzer carriage breaks away at great speed and careens into the crowd, causing life-changing injuries to one teenage girl in particular. That was bad enough, but it was also the day that Eddie met 'The Chalk Man'.
This book has it all. A horrific accident - an attack - bullying - deaths - and wondering if someone you knew was capable of brutal violence... However, I had to give it 4* simply because the ending left me a little bit confused. I felt there was so much going on towards the end that my mind got caught up in the spiral of it all. I had many questions when I turned to the final page.
