#TargetTuesday ~ Achieve those goals!

Happy Tuesday! Today, I have listed 10 way to help you hit your target and achieve your goals :

  1. Choose goals that inspire you. Set personal goals that motivate you to achieve new heights. Consider pursuing something that genuinely interests you rather than following the crowd and mimicking your friends' ambitions. It motivates you to stop thinking and start acting by creating a sense of purpose.

  2. Be proactive. Goals in life are those you dream about accomplishing "one day", but are never able to accomplish today. If you want things to happen, this approach needs to change. Take action instead of scrolling through social media and wishing you had that job, that lifestyle, that social life.

  3. Cut out the negativity. Cast out negativity into the world and it will come right back to you. Say to yourself ‘you can’t do this’ and you won’t be able to do it. It may sound clichéd, but an "I can do it" attitude, even if it's false, can help you achieve your goals.

  4. Create a good balance. It is easy to become obsessed with goal setting. You become absorbed and will do anything to get where you want to be. However, this carries the risk of breakdown. Be realistic with your goals from the start. Being motivated is good, but remember that you are human too and need rest and recovery just like everyone else.

  5. Break it down. Setting goals and achieving them is difficult. There's no shortcut or easy route, but that's what makes the experience rewarding. If you start to feel overwhelmed, break it down on paper. Describe specifically what you want to achieve, when and how. Your goal will be much easier to achieve. Create a schedule and set aside enough time each day or week to work on your goals. One that marks the right amount of training without the risk of burnout.

  6. Be okay with failing. Goal setting rarely goes smoothly. You'll run into obstacles that make you wonder why you're trying in the first place, but that's part of it and the sooner you accept it, the better. Instead of letting failure frustrate you, admit it happened and learn from it. Record what works well, and what doesn't and move on. This will help you become a better goal-setter.

  7. Talk to people. The first rule of goal setting is to talk about goal setting. Tell your close friends and family what your plans are and how you plan to implement them. The increased pressure will push you to follow through on your word. If you have any long term goals, the more people you talk to the more chance you have of meeting people who can collaborate with you and help to meet your reach your target.

  8. Accept or get help. You don't have to go through anything alone. If someone is offering to help, don't feel like you have to turn it down and go it single-handedly. This is not the case and can add unnecessary stress. Ask friends and family for help. Accept advice and help whenever it is offered, if you feel like you are struggling.

  9. Track your progress. A huge motivator to cross the finish line can be seeing how far you've come. If your weight loss success suddenly stops and you want to go back to your old ways, remind yourself of how much success you've achieved so far.

  10. Visualise the end. One of the best ways to stay motivated is to visualize the change you want to see. Engrave that image in your mind so that if the odd failure occurs, you won't be distracted and you will come back stronger. When you reach your goal or take steps towards it, treat yourself well; you deserved it.
