A good friend of mine once told me not to hurry up and wait. We were at the airport, about to travel home from Florida. I live in the UK and she lives in Virginia, USA. Her gate was boarding, there was a long queue and she was still sitting in the waiting area. I asked her why she wasn't joining the queue to board the plane and she said, 'Because I don't hurry up to wait.' Immediately I understood ~ #Patience.
If she had hurried to board the plane, she would have still been waiting in a queue, then waiting once she had found her seat. Whereas if she remained patient, took her time and didn't rush, she would just board the plane easily and then they would take off.
Here is another description: "Hurry up and wait" is a phrase used to refer to a situation in which one is forced to hurry in order to complete a certain task, or arrive at a certain destination, by a specified time; only for nothing to happen at that time, often because other required tasks are still awaiting completion.
